LOCATION: WEETANGERA, ACT
PERIOD: 2011
The Weetangera Primary School BER Project required the design and documentation for a new multipurpose building and additional classrooms. The school has a proud history of whole of school performances and wanted a space to allow families and the wider community to take part in these events.
The building form is in response to the existing built form for the classroom space which opens to a protected court to the south, while the new multipurpose room is a large floating roof over the block form, providing natural light and ventilation to the indoor multipurpose space. A restrained palette with the careful use of primary colour provides a building that will age gracefully while providing a degree of play for the school.
